Sensitive and atopic skin — gentle care with Christina cosmetics

Sensitive and atopic skin — Christina Unstress probiotic care

Sensitive skin is not a marketing gimmick

40–60% of women and 30–40% of men in Europe self-identify as having sensitive skin. In dermatology, we speak of sensitive skin syndrome (SSS) — a state of immunological and nervous hyperreactivity. Atopic skin is a more severe form of sensitivity with a genetically determined filaggrin deficiency.

In this guide, we show how to safely care for sensitive and atopic skin with the Bio Phyto, Unstress, and Line Repair Hydra lines.

5 principles of sensitive/atopic skin care

1. Emollients 2–3 times a day

Emollients (creams with ceramides, hyaluronic acid, allantoin, panthenol) replenish barrier lipids and prevent TEWL.

2. Hypoallergenic, fragrance-free cosmetics

Choose cosmetics without parabens, SLS, or synthetic fragrances. Atopic skin is particularly sensitive to essential oils in high concentrations.

3. Lukewarm water, short showers

Showers 5–8 minutes at temp. &lt38°C. For face washing, use lukewarm water.

4. Non-irritating clothing

Cotton, silk, bamboo — yes. Synthetics, wool directly on the skin — no.

5. Skin probiotics and prebiotics

Support the balance of the skin microbiome. Extracts from Lactobacilli and Bifidobacterium limit reactivity.
