Broad-spectrum SPF 30 protection is a combination of next-generation UV filters — both chemical (organic) and mineral — providing effective defense against UVA and UVB radiation. UVB filters protect against sunburn and erythema, while UVA penetrates deeper and is responsible for photoaging, hyperpigmentation, and loss of firmness. An SPF 30 factor blocks about 97% of UVB radiation and is recommended for daily care in urban conditions. Using SPF products is the foundation of preventing premature skin aging, melanoma, and pigmentation changes. It is an absolute must-have in the skincare routine for every skin type, regardless of the season.

Diacetyl Boldine is a synthetic active ingredient derived from boldo tree (Peumus boldus) extracts, with strong brightening and antioxidant action. It works by selectively inhibiting tyrosinase — the enzyme responsible for melanin synthesis in melanocytes — without the cytotoxic effect seen with hydroquinone. It effectively reduces sun spots, melasma, age spots and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). It also acts as an antioxidant, protecting the skin from free radicals and preventing the formation of new discolouration. An ideal ingredient for skin with hyperpigmentation and photoaging, and for those seeking a safe alternative to aggressive brightening methods — used, among others, in Christina's Illustrious line.

Mechanism of action

It selectively inhibits tyrosinase activity in melanocytes (IC50 ~0.3 mM) without a cytotoxic effect. It does not inhibit melanocyte proliferation (unlike hydroquinone).

Tranexamic acid is a synthetic analogue of the amino acid lysine, originally used in medicine as a drug to inhibit bleeding, which has found a breakthrough application in aesthetic dermatology. It works by inhibiting the plasminogen pathway in melanocytes, which is responsible for melanin overproduction after UV exposure. It effectively reduces melasma, chloasma (pregnancy-related discolouration), hormonal and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) — often where other brightening ingredients fail. It also acts anti-inflammatorily, so it works well in caring for skin with broken capillaries and a tendency to redness. Concentration 0.05-1% (typically 0.5%)

Vitamin E (tocopherol) is one of the most important vitamins in skincare — a powerful fat-soluble antioxidant that protects the cells' lipid membranes from peroxidation. It neutralises free radicals generated by UV exposure, air pollution and intracellular metabolism, thereby slowing photoaging processes. It strengthens the skin's lipid barrier, improves its elasticity and its ability to retain moisture. It works synergistically with vitamin C and ferulic acid — their combination significantly enhances photoprotective action. Ideal in anti-aging products for all skin types, especially tired, dull skin exposed to external factors.

ANTIOXIDANT

0.1% vitamin E + 5% vitamin C + 0.5% ferulic acid: 8x stronger photoprotection than each on its own (Lin et al., 2003, JID).

Mechanism of action

Tocopherol reduces peroxyl radicals in cell (lipid) membranes. The C+E+ferulic synergy: vitamin C regenerates oxidised vitamin E, and ferulic acid stabilises both antioxidants.
