Probiotics Probiotics (Lactobacillus)
Probiotics in cosmetics are bacterial strains, mainly Lactobacillus, and their metabolites, which support the balance of the skin microbiome. They help strengthen the protective barrier, soothe irritation and reduce the look of redness. Recommended for sensitive and reactive skin.
MicrobiomeL. plantarum lysate 5%: 37% reduction in redness in rosacea over 4 weeks (Yu et al., 2020, n=40). Lactobacillus rhamnosus: 50% reduction in atopic dermatitis.
Postbiotics (organic acids, AMP, EPS) strengthen the skin microbiome. They inhibit pathogens (S. aureus). They stimulate keratinocyte differentiation and the synthesis of natural antibacterial peptides (β-defensins).
