Shea Butter Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)
Shea butter (Butyrospermum Parkii) is a natural fat obtained from the nuts of the karité tree (Vitellaria paradoxa), which grows in the savannahs of West Africa. Exceptionally rich in active cosmetic ingredients: vitamins A, E and F, fatty acids (oleic, stearic), phytosterols and triterpenes with strong regenerative action. It forms a protective film on the skin that prevents water loss and shields against environmental factors. It is anti-inflammatory, regenerating and smoothing — ideal for the care of dry, crack-prone, atopic and irritated skin. It also stimulates collagen synthesis and has anti-age properties, making it well suited to products for mature skin.
Nourishment5% shea butter: 36% reduction in TEWL and 28% increase in hydration over 14 days (Lin et al., 2015, n=27). Anti-inflammatory effect comparable to 0.5% hydrocortisone in-vitro.
Triterpenes (lupeol, oleanolic acid) inhibit 5-lipoxygenase and COX-2 — anti-inflammatory effect. Oleic + stearic acids rebuild the intercellular cement. Vitamin F is a precursor of ceramides.
